Nathaniel Muhler AIA
Architect and Place Maker
I founded W.i.T. Studio with the intention of sharing my background as a designer, builder, studio instructor and storyteller with people who enjoy doing great work with good humor.
In my spare time, I coach high school rugby with the same intensity I bring to design.
My path to architecture
Landscaping
I grew up working for my father’s landscaping company, Sacred Space Renaisance. He mentored me for many years as sculpting gardens with meticulous craftsmanship and spiritual intentions.
International Service
Work projects for national parks of the Netherlands Antilles, public health in Rural Brazil, and formal landscaping in Switzerland informed my world view and affirmed my interest to help people through design and construction.
Art and Drama
A rugby injury took me out of competition and I turned my energy toward acting, directing, and writing productions with socio-political and therapeutic content. My passion for building narratives and sharing stories informs my architecture process.
Construction
Several years working for a general contractor, Springwood Builders, gave me the mentorship, training in rough and finish trades, and experience engaging clients I needed to handle a variety of projects and solve problems.
“Nathaniel always had great ideas, listened to my questions and concerns, respected my financial plan, offered creative solutions, was flexible with changing situations, interfaced well with the contractor, and never failed to deliver the project.”
I spend my free time designing infrastructure systems with my son.
